Who are we?

Mansfield Begbie Associates were set up in 1987 and the two directors, Mike Rees and Ian Winchester, have between them over 71 years financial services and mortgage placement experience.

We pay particular attention to obtaining the most competitive rates and giving long-term reliable customer service. This has been proven to work as many customers return to us, happy with the service that they have received in the past. As well as our mortgage broking service, we offer a full range of mortgage protection products, including life, critical illness, sickness and accident, income protection benefit and redundancy cover, through a panel of well-known and respected insurance companies.

As mortgage brokers, we aim to source the most competitive deals, whether you are looking for fixed rates, capped, discounted or cash backs, preferably with flexibility and no long ‘tie-in’ periods at the end of the selected rate. Once you have decided to purchase a new home, one of the most important decisions is how to arrange finance for the purchase. We can help to confirm in advance, via any one of a number of mortgage lenders, exactly how much you can borrow and the costs involved. This will give you ‘peace of mind’, knowing that your finance can be put in place, subject to survey, before you have even found a property. There is no charge for this service. However if the application proceeds there may be a fee payable at completion for placing your mortgage. The precise amount will depend on your circumstances but we estimate it will be £450.

The company covers much of the UK with clients throughout the country. We contact the majority of them every 2 years with a review to keep them up-to-date.

Since being founded in 1987, Mansfield Begbie Associates became a Limited company, being incorporated in 1996. In November 2015, the company decided to join Stonebridge Mortgage Solutions Limited as an Appointed Representative. We now have access to a panel of insurance providers giving our clients a much wider choice and range of insurance products.

Over the years the company has helped support numerous local schools / charities in both Swindon and Luton, and has sponsored players, James Hook, Arwel Thomas, Shane Williams amongst others from Neath RFC, Welsh Premiership Champions for 4 seasons consecutively in the period since Welsh rugby became semi-professional.

Mike Rees (CertPFS)

Mike is based in the Swindon office and also helps cover the North Devon area for the company through former estate agency contacts in Barnstaple, Bideford and Braunton. Mike is not only qualified with CeMAP (Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice) via the I.F.S., but also has the M.A.Q. (Mortgage Advice Qualification) certificate issued by the C.I.I., as well as being a fully qualified financial adviser. Mike has been based in Swindon for 33 years and the company has been established in West Swindon since 1988.

Ian Winchester (CertPFS)

Ian is based at the Luton office, where most of the administration for the Company is carried out. Ian has been in the financial services industry for 38 years and is also qualified with CeMAP as well as being a fully qualified financial adviser. He is very aware of the need for the Company to keep pace with competitors, hence the website, and oversees the programmes that help the Company’s administration run smoothly.

Ginette Wells

Ginette joined the company over 7 years ago and is responsible for running the smooth administration system and collating accounts with the help of a new assistant. She thoroughly enjoys the job and in particular helping our clients with any issues.

Geraldine Phillips

As the new assistant to Ginette Wells, Geraldine joined the Company mid-2019 coming from a customer services background. She is committed to helping our clients to ensure their requirements are handled in an orderly and efficient manner. Geraldine is excited to be learning the business and will aid the well organised running of the admin division of the company.
